New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the biggest show of Indian television on Thursday and candidly answered the questions of India TV Editor in Chief Rajat Sharma. PM Modi was asked why the two sitting Chief Ministers of Jharkhand and Delhi were arrested when the election process was going on. On this, PM Modi said, “We did not send them to jail. The courts sent both the Chief Ministers to jail. Neither we send anyone to jail nor do I have the right to keep anyone in jail. We do not have the power to send anyone to jail. The court has the right to put someone in jail or keep someone in jail.
PM Modi gave the reasoning of the court’s comment
Responding to a question from Rajat Sharma, PM Modi said, what did the Supreme Court say in the case of former Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren? What did the Delhi High Court say about former minister Manish Sisodia? Everyone knows this. People have seen huge amounts of cash being seized by the ED in the money laundering case.
ED has seized Rs 2200 crore in cash
Prime Minister Modi praised ED and said that we all should respect ED for seizing Rs 2200 crore in cash during 10 years. The amount of money recovered by ED can be filled in at least 70 tempos. Whereas during the 10 years of UPA rule, ED had seized only Rs 34 lakh in cash, which could have been stuffed in school bags.
Said this on Delhi liquor scam
PM Modi targeted the Aam Aadmi Party government in the Delhi liquor issue, saying that they wanted to spoil the lives of children by opening liquor shops near schools. Offered a free bottle of wine for every bottle sold, as they were getting commission. Let me make it clear that I won the 2014 elections only because I had promised to take action against the corrupt. My government works to end corruption.
