Hyderabad. Former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s daughter and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K Kavitha on Sunday requested the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to postpone the notice issued to her, citing the upcoming parliamentary elections. The CBI has summoned him for questioning in the Delhi Excise Policy scam case under Section 41-A of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) relating to ‘suspects’.
BRS MLC Kavita has been asked to appear before the investigation team at the CBI headquarters here on Monday. Under Section 41A of CrPC, a notice is issued to a person against whom there is ‘reasonable suspicion’ that he has committed a cognizable offence. In a letter to the CBI, he said, ‘There is no logic, reason or background as to how, why and under what circumstances you have now resorted to Section 41A of CrPC.’

Kavita said that if needed, she will be present through digital medium to answer any questions with prior notice. He said that about 15 months ago, the then investigating officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police, CBI, ACB had issued him a notice under section 160 of CrPC. Section 160 of CrPC deals with summoning witnesses. She said that she requests the agency to cancel or withdraw the notice sent under Section 41-A of CrPC.
