West Indies vs South Africa 2nd Test

The South African team is currently on a tour of West Indies where it is playing a 2-match Test series against the host team. While the first match of this series ended in a draw, the second match has started in a very exciting manner. When the first day of the second Test match of the series being played at Guyana ended, a total of 17 wickets of both the teams fell. After winning the toss, the South African team, which came to bat first, was all out at a score of 160 runs, while at the end of the day’s play, West Indies also lost 7 wickets at a score of 97.

Vian Mulder brought back the African team

After South Africa’s first innings were restricted to just 160 runs in the Guyana Test match, the West Indies team was expecting a better performance from their batsmen. However, this was not the case, as South Africa saw brilliant bowling by Wiaan Mulder on the first day of the match. Wiaan bowled just 6 overs on the first day and took 4 wickets for 18 runs. Wiaan took the wickets of Windies captain Craig Brathwaite as well as Alick Athanaze, Kavem Hodge and Joshua De Silva. Apart from Wiaan, Nandre Burger took 2 wickets and Keshav Maharaj took one wicket for South Africa on the first day of the match.

A total of 10 players could not reach double figures in the first day’s play

The dominance of the bowlers’ brilliant performance on the first day of the Guyana Test between West Indies and South Africa can be gauged from the fact that in the innings of both the teams, there were a total of 10 players who could not even touch the double digit mark. Out of these, 5 players returned to the pavilion on a score of zero.
