New Delhi. Today is an important day for Arvind Kejriwal. The Supreme Court is going to hear Arvind Kejriwal’s bail plea today. The bench of Justice Suryakant and Justice Ujjal Bhuiyan will hear Arvind Kejriwal’s bail plea. Arvind Kejriwal has approached the Supreme Court after not getting bail from the Delhi High Court in the case of his arrest by the CBI. The Delhi High Court, while refusing to grant bail to Arvind Kejriwal, had said in its decision that Arvind Kejriwal should go to the trial court or the Supreme Court in the case of his arrest by the CBI.
Arvind Kejriwal was first arrested by ED on 21 March in the liquor scam case. Recently, the Supreme Court granted interim bail to Arvind Kejriwal in the ED arrest case. However, the Supreme Court has also imposed several conditions on this bail. At the same time, even before getting bail from the Supreme Court in the ED case, the CBI also went to Tihar Jail and arrested Arvind Kejriwal in the liquor scam case. CBI is investigating the liquor scam. At the same time, ED is taking action in this case under the Money Laundering Act. Due to being arrested by the CBI, Arvind Kejriwal has not been able to come out of jail till now.
Arvind Kejriwal had called his arrest by CBI illegal in the trial court and Delhi High Court. Kejriwal’s lawyers said that arrest by two agencies in the same case is illegal. Arvind Kejriwal had also argued in both the courts that there is no evidence against him in the liquor scam case and he has been arrested due to political animosity. Arvind Kejriwal also says that there was no liquor scam in Delhi. Kejriwal’s argument is that the investigating agencies have not been able to recover even a single penny related to the liquor scam till now. At the same time, ED has called Arvind Kejriwal the kingpin of the liquor scam in the charge sheet filed in the court. ED says that by doing the liquor scam, Arvind Kejriwal took a bribe of Rs 100 crore for his Aam Aadmi Party from the people of South Cartel, who entered the liquor business, and out of this, Rs 45 crore was used for campaigning in the Goa Assembly elections.
