New Delhi. The challenge to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over the arrests of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the alleged liquor policy scam will be heard in the Delhi High Court on Wednesday. Justice Swarn Kanta Sharma will hear the case at 10:30 am. Earlier, when Kejriwal approached the High Court on Saturday, the court immediately rejected his petition. For your information, let us tell you that due to the festival of Holi, there is no possibility of any kind of hearing before 27th March. The trial court had sent Kejriwal to ED custody till March 28 for “detailed and sustained interrogation”.
In his petition, Kejriwal argued that his arrest and detention were illegal and he deserved immediate release. Kejriwal was arrested by ED on the night of 21 March. Hours after the High Court refused to grant him protection from coercive action, the ED arrested Kejriwal.
Kejriwal had approached the High Court to quash all proceedings, including the summons, issued against him. The case pertains to alleged corruption and embezzlement related to the formulation and implementation of the Delhi government’s liquor policy for 2021-22, which was later cancelled. Top leaders of AAP organization Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh are currently in judicial custody. Kejriwal’s name is mentioned several times in the ED charge sheet filed in the case.
