Mumbai: Muslim women are filling the forms for Ladli Behan Yojana in the entire state including Maharashtra’s capital Mumbai. Muslim women are filling the forms by standing in queues and they say that this amount of Rs 1500 per month is equal to Rs 15 lakh for them. They said that they have faith in the current government that this scheme will continue in the future as well. This attitude of Muslim women regarding the Maharashtra government’s scheme can give tension to Shiv Sena UBT Chief Uddhav Thackeray and NCP SP supremo Sharad Pawar.
‘Congress did not fulfill the promise of ‘Khattak”
Muslim women also complain that Congress did not keep its promise of ‘Khattak’. He said, ‘This scheme will help a lot. We will support the Mahayuti government. Congress and MVA took our votes by lying in the Lok Sabha, we will not make this mistake again. Modi government brought a law against triple talaq. Sukanya Samridhi Yojana was brought and it was not stopped. This scheme will also continue.’ The opposition is upset with the activism of Muslim women in this scheme and it is neither able to find a solution to it nor oppose it.
‘This plan has been brought to win the election’
Samajwadi Party leader Abu Asim Azmi reacted to this scheme and said, ‘The Mahayuti government has brought this scheme to win the elections after losing the Lok Sabha elections. Why did they not implement this scheme when they were in power for 2.5 years? But minority, Dalit, and backward caste women know how the NDA government is, so the public will not support them. What can be done with 1500 rupees? In Congress-ruled states, we are giving 8500 rupees per month and 1 lakh rupees per year to women. If our government comes, we will bring a better scheme.’
‘Muslims will not join BJP’
Shiv Sena UBT leader Sanjay Raut gave a sharp statement on this issue. He said, ‘Muslims are not bound by anyone. Till the people sitting in the BJP-Shiv Sena government do not stop atrocities and injustice against Muslims, no matter how many such schemes are brought, Muslims will not join them and should not join.’ On the allegations of the opposition, Maharashtra Cabinet Minister Deepak Kesarkar said that the opposition always tries to set a false narrative and now they are afraid that the false propaganda done in the Lok Sabha will not work, so they are spreading confusion about the schemes.
Mathematics of Muslim vote in Maharashtra
Let us tell you that the Muslim population in Maharashtra is currently around 12 percent. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, less than 3 percent of Muslims voted for the NDA, while on the other hand, the opposition MVA or INDI Alliance got more than 95 percent of Muslim votes. Let us tell you that there are around 80 lakh Muslim women voters in Maharashtra and if a large part of them joins the Mahayuti, then it will be a matter of tension for Sharad Pawar. At the same time, the overall impact of this scheme can also affect the politics of Uddhav Thackeray somewhere.
