Manish Sisodia is lodged in Tihar Jail since February 2023.He is an accused in the alleged scam in Delhi liquor policy.The Supreme Court will give its verdict on his bail plea on Friday.
New Delhi. The Supreme Court will pronounce its verdict on the bail plea of former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia today. Sisodia is currently lodged in Delhi’s Tihar Jail for the past one and a half years. The CBI and ED have arrested him in the Delhi liquor scam case. The Supreme Court bench of Justice B. R. Gavai and Justice K. V. Vishwanathan has already completed the hearing on Sisodia’s bail plea. After hearing the arguments of both the sides on August 6, the bench had reserved its order.
According to the cause-list uploaded on the Supreme Court website, the bench will give its verdict in this case on Friday. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and former Telangana CM K Chandrashekhar Rao’s daughter Kavitha are in jail in this case. The CM has got bail in the case related to ED. However, he has not been freed yet in the corruption case related to CBI. Due to which he is behind the bars.
Investigative agencies allege that the Delhi government had benefited the liquor traders of South India through Delhi’s liquor policy. The liquor policy benefited the South Indian traders by about Rs 100 crore. In return, they helped the Delhi government with Rs 75 crore in the Goa elections 2022. ED has also made Aam Aadmi Party an accused in this case. ED alleges that the party misused the government system so that it could contest elections in Goa. ED also presented some evidence of money transactions through hawala in its charge sheet before the court.
