New Delhi. Senior Aam Aadmi Party leader and former Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia saw the ‘first morning of freedom’ on Saturday after 17 months. In fact, the Supreme Court granted bail to Sisodia on Friday in the cases of alleged scam in the excise policy, after which he reached his home late at night. After being released from jail, Sisodia shared a picture on Saturday morning, in which he was seen drinking tea with his wife.
Manish Sisodia shared a post on Instagram and wrote, ‘First morning tea of freedom, after 17 months… the freedom that the Constitution has given to all of us Indians as a guarantee of the right to live. The freedom that God has given us to breathe in the open air with everyone.’

Sisodia went straight from Tihar to CM residence
Earlier, after coming out of Tihar Jail on Friday, Sisodia went to CM Arvind Kejriwal’s house and met his wife Sunita Kejriwal and his parents. After getting bail from the Supreme Court, he went straight from Tihar to the Chief Minister’s residence. During this, Sunita Kejriwal became emotional after meeting Manish Sisodia. Manish Sisodia touched the feet of CM Arvind Kejriwal’s parents and took their blessings and enquired about their well-being.
During this time, he also met ministers and MLAs of the Delhi government and they were seen talking for a long time. After Sisodia’s release from jail, there is a lot of speculation that he can take charge of the functioning of the Delhi government in the absence of Arvind Kejriwal.

In fact, many leaders and workers of Aam Aadmi Party want Manish Sisodia to return to the ministerial post soon. They say that Sisodia’s past work and the current environment, especially when Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is in jail, makes him the perfect candidate to lead the Delhi government.
What is the obstacle in becoming a minister
Before resigning from the cabinet, Sisodia held 18 important portfolios including education, finance, planning, land and buildings, vigilance services, women and child development, art, culture and language. A few days after being arrested by the CBI in February 2023, Sisodia resigned as deputy chief minister and from the Delhi cabinet. Therefore, Manish Sisodia is now an MLA. And as such, he will not be able to hold any ministerial post until he takes oath again.
Earlier in the day, the Supreme Court granted bail to Manish Sisodia, saying that he has been in custody for 17 months. The apex court criticized the lower courts and said that he has been deprived of the right to a speedy trial by keeping him in jail for a long time without the hearing of the case starting. After being released from Tihar, Sisodia said that he has got bail due to the power of the Constitution and democracy and this power will ensure Kejriwal’s survival.
Kejriwal, the Delhi chief minister and AAP national convenor, was arrested by the ED on March 21 in a money laundering case linked to the alleged excise policy scam. The Supreme Court has also granted him interim bail, but he is still in jail as the CBI has arrested him in a related case.
