There is speculation regarding the seat dispute that Milind Deora may leave Congress and join Shinde group Congress.
Putting an end to all these speculations, Milind Deora said that these are all rumours.
Mumbai: Senior Congress leader Milind Deora on Saturday termed as ‘rumour’ speculations that he would leave the party and join Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena. Deora, however, told reporters that he was discussing with his supporters. He had recently expressed his displeasure over Shiv Sena (UBT) staking claim on Mumbai South Lok Sabha constituency. When asked if he was making any plans with his supporters, the former MP from Mumbai South Lok Sabha seat said, ‘I am listening to my supporters. No decision has been taken yet.
Milind Deora called the speculations a rumor
Answering a question on the media reports, he said that there are rumors that he is leaving Congress to join Eknath Shinde led Shiv Sena. The Uddhav Thackeray-led group had claimed to contest from Mumbai South constituency in the upcoming general elections and the seat was represented by Deora before 2014. Deora had said that since formal talks on seat sharing have not been completed yet, no one should make claims.
Matter stuck in seat sharing in Maharashtra
Shiv Sena (UBT) is an alliance partner of Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction) in Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA). Deora, son of senior Congress leader Murli Deora, had won the Mumbai South seat in 2004 and 2009. Apart from this, the dispute in Maharashtra is regarding seat-sharing of India Alliance for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Sanjay Raut had recently said that Uddhav’s Shiv Sena is the largest party in Maharashtra and Shiv Sena (Uddhav) leaders are in talks with the national leadership of Congress.
Sanjay Raut said- talks are being held with the central leadership
Sanjay Raut said, ‘We are talking to the decision makers, the central leadership – not the state leadership. We told them that we have always contested elections on 23 seats. Congress has to start from zero in Maharashtra. Neither we have any problem, nor does the central leadership of Congress have any problem. Rest it doesn’t matter who said what.
Milind Deora hit back at Sanjay Raut
Milind Deora gave a strong reply to this and said that Congress is now the largest opposition party in the Maharashtra Assembly and is leading the opposition. Milind Deora posted, “According to Sanjay Raut, even after losing 40 MLAs (to Shinde group), Uddhav Sena is the largest party in Maharashtra. “I want to tell them that no alliance can move forward without consultation with the local leadership.”
