Will rain spoil the fun of Independence Day? Know what will be the weather in Delhi-NCR

New Delhi. The whole country is immersed in the celebration of 78th Independence Day. Today, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is going to hoist the flag for the record 11th time at the Red Fort. But, the forecast of the Meteorological Department (IMD) may spoil your fun. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for rain in Delhi for 14, 15 and 16 August. The Meteorological Department is likely that there may be sporadic rain in the entire area of Delhi NCR on 15 August. It is worth noting that the monsoon is at its peak in the entire North India. It is raining heavily in UP, Haryana, Punjab, Bihar, Rajasthan, so on Thursday i.e. 15 August, there is a possibility of heavy rain in these parts of the country as well.

Delhi has been battling with monsoon for some time now. If we talk about August, it has rained every day so far. The base observatory located at Safdarjung has received a total of 222.4 mm of rain in August as against the record 233.1 mm. The Meteorological Department estimates that very soon, this figure will be crossed and the rain in the second half of the month can break its old record. Let us tell you that August is anyway the month with the most rain. The continuous rain can make up for the lack of rain in the previous months.

Light monsoon rains may cast a shadow on the Independence Day celebrations in the national capital. Prime Minister Modi will address the nation during the grand ceremony to be held early in the morning at the Red Fort. If the sky remains cloudy amid high humidity, then there may be heavy rains in Delhi and surrounding areas. Delhiites have faced a lot of problems due to rains for the last several days. Everyone is hoping that it does not rain today, so that everyone can enjoy the holiday.

Rainfall in these places
The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over the Gangetic plains and West Bengal. Heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, East Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Bihar, Jharkhand. The Meteorological Department said that there is a high possibility of rain in Delhi-NCR between 9 am and 5 pm on August 15, during which sporadic rain may occur.

Jaipur: For the last two weeks, Jaipur city has been receiving continuous rainfall, which was sometimes heavy to very heavy. A cyclonic wind area is formed over Northeast Rajasthan and Delhi region. Also, the monsoon trough is passing very close to the city. Therefore, there is a danger of monsoon rain affecting the 15th August celebrations. At the same time, there is a possibility of intermittent rain.

Lucknow: Like Delhi and Jaipur, the monsoon trough remains close to Lucknow. The city will have to face monsoon rains. Keeping this situation in mind, there may be a need to change the arrangements and preparations for the celebrations.

Mumbai: Weak monsoon conditions have been prevailing on the Konkan coast for the last few days. Monsoon rains here are mostly light and sporadic. The weather conditions are expected to remain better, due to which there is no possibility of any disruption in the Independence Day celebrations. At the same time, even if it rains in Mumbai tomorrow, it will be very light and for a short time. Due to which there will be no disruption of any kind.
