In such a situation, the Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Jay Shah has disclosed about this issue. He clearly said that India will not host the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 in case of a change in the venue due to the ongoing political conflict in Bangladesh.

Jay Shah also revealed that the ICC had approached the BCCI asking if it would host the World Cup after the student-led uprising in Bangladesh, which forced Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to flee the country. Shah told the Times of India on Wednesday, August 14, that the ICC has asked us if we would host the World Cup. I have clearly refused. In fact, the student-led protest in Bangladesh against reservation in government jobs turned into a large and violent movement and ousted Sheikh Hasina’s party Awami League from power. The conflict escalated so much that Hasina was forced to take refuge in India.
India will not host two consecutive World Cups
The Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 is scheduled to be played in Bangladesh in September-October, and the ICC is considering possible options to transfer the tournament if the situation in the host country remains serious. Shah explained the reason behind BCCI’s refusal to host this big tournament in India. He said that monsoon is going on right now and apart from this we will also host the Women’s ODI World Cup next year. I do not want to give any kind of indication that I want to organize consecutive World Cups. Now that India is out of the game, the ICC is left with only two options in Asia. Sri Lanka or UAE.
