BSP chief Mayawati on Tuesday pledged to work towards a separate state comprising districts of western Uttar Pradesh and fulfill her “long-standing demand” of setting up a bench of the Allahabad High Court in Meerut if voted to power at the Centre. Promised. Addressing an election rally in support of his party’s candidate from Meerut Lok Sabha seat, the BSP chief attacked the Congress and the BJP and targeted the Samajwadi Party (SP) over the reservation issue and alleged that the SP does not want People of SC/ST communities should get quota benefits.
He also said that if his party comes to power, it will work to fulfill the demands of the area and solve the problems. He said, “Like Lucknow, we will take positive steps regarding your old demand of having a bench of Allahabad High Court in Meerut also.” Mayawati said, “The central government is not paying attention to this, but when we come to power at the Centre, we will take positive steps in this regard.”
Referring to how her government in Uttar Pradesh had passed a proposal for a separate state, which was sent to the Centre, Mayawati said, “From the very beginning it has been our party’s view that the western region A separate state should be created, so that there can be better development here.”
He said, “We had got a resolution passed by the state assembly and sent it to the central government, but they did not take action on it. When our party comes to power at the Centre, your western UP will be made a separate state.”
The former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh alleged that the quota facility for Dalits, Tribals (ST) and OBCs in government jobs in the country has not been filled for years and the quota in promotion for SC/ST has also been made ineffective. She said, “I want to remind SC/ST members that when SP was in power in Uttar Pradesh, it had abolished reservation in promotions. Will the members of these classes give him even a single vote and waste it on a party which is bent on ending their reservation? “SP does not want SC/ST people to get full benefits of reservation.”
