Sikar. The Health Department has started investigation into the deterioration in the health of three women and the death of a pregnant woman after blood transfusion at Kapil District Hospital in Neemkathana. Many shocking information has come to light on the very first day of the department’s investigation. The biggest thing is that infected blood was being supplied from this blood bank for the last 15 days. Investigation has revealed that two women had died at different times in the past after transfusing blood taken from this blood bank. But no one paid any attention and the family even performed his last rites.
On Sunday night, pregnant Maina Devi, a resident of Biharipur village, was given blood transfusion at Kapil Hospital in Neemkathana. This blood was taken from Sita Blood Bank of Neemkathana. As soon as the blood was transfused, he started vomiting and having diarrhea. Within a short time he started having trouble breathing. Seeing the critical condition of the woman, she was referred to Jaipur. Maina Devi died during treatment in Jaipur. Apart from Maina, the health of two other pregnant women also deteriorated after transfusion of blood brought from this blood bank. He has also been referred to Jaipur. He is undergoing treatment in Jaipur. Earlier it was believed that the death occurred due to transfusion of blood of the wrong group. But now it is being told that the blood group was correct but he was infected.
Zone director arrived for investigation
As soon as the news of the woman’s death was received, health department officials reached Sita Blood Bank on Sunday night. He investigated the entire matter at the primary level. Later a committee was formed to investigate. The committee has seized the records of the blood centre. On Monday, Jaipur Zone Director of Health Department, Dr. Narottam Sharma reached Neemkathana. Apart from this, the team of Drug Controller also came to Neemkathana. Records of the blood units issued from this blood bank and which patients were transfused have been collected. Along with this, the patients to whom blood units were issued from this blood bank have been stopped from transfusing blood for the time being.
Negligence was taken in using CPD chemical
The team’s preliminary investigation revealed that only the blood that came from the blood bank was infected. It was kept here in a poor quality bag. Along with this, carelessness was also taken in using CPD chemical to keep the blood thin in the bag. Infected blood was being supplied from Sita Blood Center for the last 15 days. This supply has been made to many hospitals in the district. It is feared that infected blood was given to dozens of patients from this blood bank. Preliminary investigation has revealed that this blood bank was supplying more infected blood to Jeevan Rekha, Gangasagar and District Kapil Hospital in Neemkathana.
Jugli Devi was given blood transfusion on 8th May
On the other hand, police investigation has revealed that Jugli Devi of Madhogarh area had died recently. He was undergoing treatment in a private hospital. Jugli Devi was given blood transfusion on 8th May. When his health deteriorated, his family took him to Barala Hospital in Chaumu. Jugli Devi’s blood was also issued from Sita Blood Bank.
The death toll may increase
Along with this, shocking information also came to light that the blood bank management had also tried to suppress the matter. The management of Sita Blood Bank had suspected that the blood might be infected on Sunday morning itself. Therefore, two dozen units of blood kept in the bank were destroyed so that irregularities in the investigation could not be detected. From the facts revealed in the investigation, there is a fear that the number of dead people may increase by using blood taken from this bank.
Zone director said only one death has been confirmed.
Jaipur Zone Director Dr. Narottam Sharma said that the investigation report of the entire matter is being prepared. The supply of blood from the blood bank has been stopped. It is too early to say anything right now. At present the blood donated from here has been stopped from being transfused. So far, only one death has been confirmed in this case. Investigation is ongoing.
Infected blood reacts in different ways.
According to Neemkathana PMO Kamal Singh Shekhawat, it is being investigated whether the blood was tested correctly or not. Reaction to infected blood occurs in different ways. This can happen immediately or even after some time. It all depends on the patient’s body. Sita Blood Bank opened only six-seven months ago. This kind of case has never come before. But now when the health of three-four patients deteriorated simultaneously, a thorough investigation is being done.
There is a possibility of infection due to lack of maintenance
According to sources, what went wrong in this case has not been fully revealed yet. Because when someone’s blood is taken, it is thoroughly examined. If there is already infection in the blood, it is removed. After that it is stored as per the prescribed guidelines. The possibility of blood getting infected is greater during its maintenance. Something similar is emerging here.
Regular checkup of blood bank is necessary
Blood banks come directly under the Drug Controller Department of the government. Additional drug controllers sit at all district headquarters. Since Neemakathana has recently become a district, no additional drug controller has been appointed here yet. At present it is under the Additional Drug Controller of its old district Sikar. Blood bank should be checked regularly. Regular checking of staff is also necessary. The donor should be followed.
