Flight Lieutenant Shivangi Singh, the first female Rafale fighter jet pilot, on Tuesday said she has trained like her male colleagues as the machines do not differentiate between genders.
He said that “the fighter plane training was tough. I worked hard for it. I have been trained just like my other male colleagues. The machine doesn’t recognize gender, it acts according to the tile input given. Realized that hard work pays rich dividends.
Shivangi Singh has the distinction of being chosen as the first woman fighter pilot for the Rafale aircraft. The Rafale arrived in the Indian Defense Forces from France in 2020 and is considered to be the most powerful fighter in its class in the entire Asian region. Singh said that he has always received good support from fellow officers, men and women alike.
“Yes, being a fighter pilot makes me proud and I will try to do my best for the country,” she said. Describing her life before joining the Indian Air Force, Singh said that she hails from Varanasi and has represented the country in the ‘Foreign Exchange Program’ in Bangladesh as an NCC cadet.
He said that “I have played basketball till the national level and represented my state in javelin throw. It has been an exciting journey so far.” Let us inform that Shivangi Singh was a part of the Indian Air Force (IAF) tableau during the 73rd Republic Day parade. She is the only second woman fighter jet pilot to be a part of the Indian Air Force tableau.
