Women's Asia Cup: India's dominance ends in Asia Cup, women's team loses the final, Sri Lanka becomes champion for the first time

New Delhi. The dominance of the Indian women’s team in the Asia Cup has ended. Host Sri Lanka has defeated India in the final of the Women’s Asia Cup. With this, the Sri Lankan women’s team has become the new champion of the Asia Cup. It has won this title for the first time. The Sri Lankan team defeated the Indian women’s team by 8 wickets in the final.

The Women’s Asia Cup final between India and Sri Lanka was played in Dambulla on Sunday. India scored 165 runs for 6 wickets. This seemed like a strong score considering the pitch of Dambulla. But the host team achieved the target in 18.4 overs and made the Indian score look small.

Sri Lankan captain Chamari Atapattu led her team from the front. She opened the innings and scored 61 runs in 43 balls. Harshita Samarawickrama batted even more strongly. Harshita Samarawickrama played an innings of 69 runs in 51 balls and came out of the field only after winning the match. She also got good support from Kavisha Dilhari. Kavisha remained unbeaten after scoring 30 runs in 16 balls.
