World Bank’s India chief Junaid Kamal Ahmed has been appointed as the vice-chairman of this international lending institution. According to an official release, Ahmed will head the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA) as Vice President, Operations. He is the second Bangladeshi national to have been appointed to such a high position in the history of the World Bank. Ahmed will take over the new post from April 18.
Earlier Faisal Choudhary was the first Bangladeshi citizen to become the Vice President of Operations. Ahmed said, our (World Bank) partnership with India is allowing the world to learn and share things. Most importantly, as India’s economic growth progresses, the impact on global growth and poverty is of paramount importance.
He said, India is a leading country in the world not only in techno-technology but also in agriculture and other products.
