New Delhi. Today i.e. 9th August is celebrated as World Tribal Day. It was first declared by the United Nations General Assembly on the day of its primary meeting in December 1994. Let us tell you that continuous efforts are being made by various governments and organizations for the upliftment of the tribals. According to a report, today the number of tribals in the whole world has come down to around 37 crores. It would not be wrong to say that somewhere the modern people are behind the existence of the tribals because every year so many trees and forests are being cut, these trees are being removed by cutting them only for their own benefit. People forget in this advantage of ours that we are destroying the house of the tribals i.e. their forest.
Why is World Tribal Day celebrated?
It was first declared by the United Nations General Assembly on the day of its primary meeting in December 1994. The first meeting of the United Nations Working Party on Aboriginal Populations was held in 1982 of the United Nations Working Group on the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights. It is believed that the environment and culture is alive even today because of the tribals. Even today many big buildings stand up in a few months due to their sweat. To promote and protect their rights as well as to acknowledge their contributions, Tribal Day will be celebrated all over the world on 9 August. In this, their folk tales, culture will be presented everywhere. Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot has also issued orders to celebrate this event with pomp.
