Leopards are now proving to be natural watchdogs for the protection of alligators, crocodiles and dolphins in the National Chambal Sanctuary. In fact, the number of leopards is increasing continuously in the last two years in Chambal Sanctuary. The increasing number of leopards is reducing the risk of poachers in the sanctuary. In such a situation, these leopards are also considered as the sentinels of the century. In the last two years, the number of leopards in the sanctuary in the border of Bhind district has increased to around 10. Among them are male and female leopards. In the dense ravines of Chambal, footprints of leopards are being found at many places.
Increasing number of Leopards auspicious for the Sanctuary
Wildlife lovers and forest department officials are considering the increasing number of leopards in Chambal Sanctuary as auspicious. The movement of villagers in the Sanctuary area has not already been much, but at times, predators prove to be a threat to the crocodiles, crocodiles and dolphins of the Gangetic species living here. Now the increasing number of leopards here will reduce the external threat in the sanctuary. Ranger Satendra Singh Sikarwar and Chilonga Ghat in-charge Uday Singh Bhadauria say that they are going to the villagers from time to time and telling them that the number of leopards is increasing in the sanctuary. Leopards getting enough food in Chambal
Ranger Sikarwar says that there is already very little movement of people in Chambal Sanctuary. At the same time, leopards are getting enough food and water here. These leopards are feeding their stomachs by hunting small wildlife, Nilgai and small cattle of villagers living on the banks of Chambal river in the rugged. Leopards go to the Chambal river to drink water after a good meal. Their footprints are visible from the rugged to the Chambal. In the past one year, leopards have hunted five small cattle of people in a village on the banks of the sanctuary. The Ranger says that the villagers have been given compensation for their cattle by the Forest Department.
Cubs were born in Etawah Sanctuary area
Let us tell you here, in January, in Chambal Sanctuary, a female leopard gave birth to two male cubs near Chikni Tower on Udi-Chakarnagar road in Etawah district of Uttar Pradesh. On getting information about the birth of male cubs, the officials of Uttar Pradesh Sanctuary had stopped the entry of villagers in that area. According to the forest officials of Etawah, Uttar Pradesh, there are 70 to 80 leopards in the ravine of the river bank in an area of 165 km from Bah to Bhareh of Agra district in Chambal Sanctuary. That is, the population of leopards is increasing a lot in Chambal Sanctuary.

Leopards are being seen in villages like Khairat, Ater, Himatpura, Jamsara, Koshan, Bijaura, Ranipura, Sankri etc. from Udotgarh on the banks of Chambal river. Their footprints have also been seen in many places. Ranger Mr. Sikarwar says that people have also been alerted due to the presence of leopards in the rugged areas of the river bank. Leopards have also been confirmed in the sanctuary in the border of Etawah.
