There have been many serial killers in the world of crime in India. Whose exploits shook the whole country. A similar serial killer happened in Russia who once remained in the police, but committed so many crimes that he was sentenced to life imprisonment twice. The name of this killer is Mikhail Popkov. Popokov is the first Russian murderer to have been sentenced twice to life imprisonment.
Russian media reports about Mikhail Popkov suggest that he was once part of Russia’s police department. He was accused of murder and rape of about 200 women and girls. When he was produced in the court due to these matters, he said that he was cleaning the dirt of the city. It is said about Popkov that he himself first brutally murdered women and then went to investigate as the police.
Mikhail Popkov carried out most of the murders between 1992 and 2010 in his hometown of Angarsk. After carrying out all these incidents, no one found it strange to be involved in the investigation. During interrogation, it was revealed that he used to make women wait around the club and bar and make them sit in the car on the pretext of giving them a lift. Then taking him to a deserted place would rape and attack him with a knife and ax, torture him and then kill him.
However, even after these murders, he kept dodging the police for many years. Popkov was tried twice for the rape and murder of women between the ages of 18 and 50. Mikhail was caught in such a way that he made a mistake while carrying out a crime. In such a situation, when the police reached to investigate, they found the marks of the tires of the car at the spot. When investigated, it was found that these tire marks were of Mikhail’s car.
On the basis of suspicion, when he was taken into custody and interrogated and Mikhail’s DNA test was done, the secret was revealed. During interrogation, it was found that he was behind the murders and had killed about 200 women and girls. Terming him as a werewolf, the court sentenced him to life imprisonment for the murder of 22 women. This punishment was for the offenses which he had committed between 1992 and 2010.
