New Delhi. Star wrestler Vinesh Phogat returned to India from Paris on Saturday, 17 August. She was given a warm welcome at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. On this occasion, Olympic medalist wrestlers Bajrang Punia and Sakshi Malik also arrived to welcome Vinesh. After returning to India, Vinesh expressed her gratitude to all the supporters, but during this time she also became emotional. Now her husband Somveer Rathi has surprised everyone by giving a big statement.
Somveer Rathi’s statement: ‘Wrestling will not happen now, we are broken’
Vinesh Phogat’s husband Somveer Rathi said, “You all are seeing whatever has happened in the last one and a half-two years. We have no support from the federation. No one is standing with us. We have seen everything, and now it is clear that no one is with us. If no one stands with a player, what can he do?” He further said, “Now we will not be able to wrestle. We are broken from inside. For whom should we play now? We have decided to retire from wrestling after a lot of thought. Our journey ended here. Now we will not be able to go further, it is very difficult. We thought that we will bring medals for the country. Vinesh worked very hard, but we could not bring medals. We are very sad about this. We want to apologize to everyone that we could not do what we wanted to do for the country.”

Disqualification: Was out due to 100 grams more weight
Vinesh Phogat entered the women’s 50 kg wrestling event at the Paris Olympics. In her first match, she defeated the gold medalist of the last Olympics and world champion wrestler. After this, she also registered brilliant victories in the quarter-finals and semi-finals. But on the day of the final, she was disqualified due to her weight being 100 grams more. After the disqualification, Vinesh demanded a silver medal and appealed the matter to CAS (Court of Arbitration for Sport). The country’s leading lawyer Harish Salve fought her case. CAS asked Vinesh to answer some questions, but in the end her case was dismissed.
