The Indian Cricket Board may seek a reply from veteran wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha on his comments regarding Ganguly and Dravid. Saha had hit out at coach Dravid and BCCI president Sourav Ganguly after he was not selected in the Indian team for the Test series against Sri Lanka. He had said that Ganguly had promised him that he would not be dropped from the team. At the same time, Dravid advised him to retire. According to the board, Saha has violated the rules of the BCCI Central Contract by targeting Dravid and Ganguly.
Saha holds a BCCI Group B contract. On this basis, he gets Rs 3 crore annually. Saha has violated Clause 6.3 by making remarks against his coach and the Board President.
What are the rules of BCCI?
According to the rules of BCCI, players will not make any comment in the media on the game, officials, any incident during the match, use of technology, selection of players or any other matter which is against BCCI or opposes the game of cricket. Ho. Saha has only made remarks against his coach and the chairman of the board. He has made remarks against coach Dravid, selection committee chairman Chetan Sharma and board president Ganguly for his selection in the media.
BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal told PTI that there is every possibility that the BCCI may ask Saha how he commented on the selection matter despite being a centrally contracted player. As far as Ganguly is concerned, he tried to boost Saha’s confidence. In such a situation, BCCI can ask Saha why he made the private conversations of the dressing room public. Nothing has been decided on this matter so far, but a decision will be taken soon in the coming time.
Saha did not have to speak against Dravid
Many BCCI officials are of the view that Saha was not supposed to comment against Dravid. On this matter, Dravid had said that he was not saddened by Saha’s words, but he clearly wanted to tell Saha about his future. Pant is the team’s first choice as a wicketkeeper and a young keeper will be groomed as his substitute. It was a private conversation and even if it hurt Saha, he had to keep quiet. Dravid’s image has suffered after Saha’s remarks.
Saha has been in constant controversies
Saha has been in constant controversy after the Indian team was announced for the Test series against Sri Lanka. First he made a statement against Dravid and Ganguly. After this a journalist asked him for an interview. When Saha did not respond, the journalist had threatened to never interview him. After this, Saha also shared screenshots of this chat on social media and BCCI came out in his support.
