it was not a setback for me
The world’s number one Test bowler said, ‘I would definitely want to play in this final, because I also contributed to the team reaching here. In the last World Test Championship final, I bowled well and took four wickets. After 2018-19, my performance on foreign soil has been good. I have given match winning performance for the team. I am looking at it (not being selected) from the coach’s and captain’s point of view and trying to understand the situation. When we were last in England, that Test series ended in a 2-2 draw. Then the team realized that the winning combination in England is of four pacers and one spinner. Maybe this is what was going on in their (Indian team management) mind before the final.
‘Arrogance has entered Indian cricket’
Legendary West Indies fast bowler Sir Andy Roberts has criticized the Indian men’s cricket team after their World Test Championship final loss to Australia, saying the team has lost its arrogance. Roberts also expressed surprise at not playing top off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. He said, ‘It was ridiculous to drop Ashwin. How can you not choose your best spinner? Incredible.’ Roberts said, ‘It is arrogance that has crept into Indian cricket and because of this India has underestimated the rest of the world. India has to decide what is their focus, Test cricket or limited overs cricket. T20 cricket will be played in its own way. There is no competition between bat and ball.
