Yamaha India is preparing to introduce Yamaha NEO based electric scooter in the Indian market. Yamaha will launch this electric scooter with an elegant design. Yamaha may offer two battery options and motor in the EV keeping in mind the growing e-scooter market in India. This electric scooter will be made comfortable for Indian roads.
Yamaha NEO’s electric scooter was recently launched in Europe, which makes comparisons with the scooters in the 50cc segment. The NEO uses a 2.5kW motor, which is coupled to a 50.4V, 19.2Ah lithium-ion battery pack and offers a range of up to 68km (two battery options).
The Japanese automotive brand recently showcased the Yamaha NEO and Yamaha EO1 electric scooters at a dealer conference. During a program, information was given about the specialty of this e-scooter. It was learned that in a single battery layout, the NEO runs for 37 km before it runs out of charge, which offers a very short range in the Indian market. Will have to do more range to sell it in India.
NEO based e-scooter can be designed according to India
For Indian users, Yamaha can now offer around 100km of real world range, considering the competition. On the other hand, Ishanin Chihana, Chairman, Yamaha Motors India said that giving a range of 100 km from an e-scooter is a tough task. Chihana said that those who have a maximum range of 25kph can achieve it, but if the speed is up to 45 or 50 or 60kph then the 100km range can be very difficult.
the road won’t be easy
It will not be easy for Yamaha to introduce the e-scooter in the Indian market and compare, as there are already several electric scooters with a range of 100 kms already, which will give a tough competition to the new electric scooter from Yamaha. In such a situation, Yamaha can launch Neo based e-scooter with some new features in the Indian market.
