Lucknow. PM Vishwakarma Yojana, launched by the Government of India for the artisans and handicraft workers of the country, is being worked on at a fast pace in Uttar Pradesh. On the instructions of CM Yogi, the process of registration and verification of artisans and handicraft workers on the portal is going on. In this sequence, the Urban Bodies Directorate has written a letter to all the District Magistrates asking them to set targets in each urban body and conduct the first phase of verification as soon as possible. It is noteworthy that there is a provision for three-tier verification of the registered beneficiaries under the scheme. Its first level verification is to be done by the urban bodies. After completion of verification, training of all selected Vishwakarmas will begin and an amount of Rs 15,000 will be provided to them in the form of e-voucher for the purchase of toolkit. Also, the process will be taken forward to get them a loan through the bank.
A committee formed under the chairmanship of the District Magistrate will look after the verification work.
Director of Urban Bodies Directorate, Nitin Bansal said that there are different systems of verification for rural and urban bodies. In rural areas, the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department has got the responsibility of verification, while in urban areas the first level verification is being done by the Executive Officer (EO). In this sequence, all the District Magistrates have been requested to hold a meeting with all the executive officers and cooperate in getting the first level verification done at a speedy pace in all the urban bodies. He said that all verification work at the district level is to be done by a committee constituted under the chairmanship of the District Magistrate. At the state level, the committee formed under MSME is verifying the eligible beneficiaries.
Verification process to be done at three levels
According to the procedure prescribed for availing benefits under PM Vishwakarma Yojana, first of all the beneficiary will have to apply, after which verification process will be done at three levels (Panchayat or ULB, District and State). The beneficiary will get PM Vishwakarma certificate and ID card. Besides, the details of the beneficiary will also be sent to MSDE. After this, 5 days basic skill training and certificate will be provided. Selected people will also be given advanced skill training and certificate for 15 days or more. After this, Rs 15,000 will be provided to the beneficiary as toolkit incentives or toolkit. Also, information about the application for initial finance share of Rs 1 lakh will be shared with the bank. After seeing the credit report, the bank will provide a loan of one lakh rupees to the beneficiary. Beneficiaries who repay the loan through digital transactions and undergo 15 days of advance training will be eligible to apply for a second loan of Rs 2 lakh.
PM Vishwakarma Yojana is an ambitious scheme run by the Government of India, which has been launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 17 October 2023. 18 businesses have been identified under this scheme. The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Department is the nodal department for the implementation of the scheme and the Urban Development Department is the partner. Under the scheme, targets have been set for all the districts for the first year. Registration of beneficiaries is to be done by Jan Suvidha Kendra.
