Lucknow. Yogi government is working on war footing to strengthen the infrastructure and connectivity of the state. On the guidelines of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, in the last six and a half years, work has been done on war footing on widening, strengthening and reconstruction of villages, tehsils, block headquarters, international/interstate border roads, sugar mill areas, industrial areas and charitable roads. During this period, work has been done to lay a network of more than 5 thousand kilometers of roads across the state. For this, Yogi government has spent an amount of about nine thousand crores.
26 tehsil and 131 block headquarters were connected with two lanes.
As soon as Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took charge of the state in 2017, he had instructed PWD to strengthen connectivity in the state. The government had instructed PWD to connect 26 tehsil headquarters and 153 block headquarters through a two-lane road. For this, an amount of Rs 2,653 crore was allocated to the department for 1617 km of road. The department has connected 26 tehsil headquarters and 131 block headquarters with two lanes, while the work of connecting the remaining 22 block headquarters with two lanes is going on at a fast pace. Of these, 99 percent work has been completed in 16 block headquarters, 74 percent in 3 block headquarters, 24 percent in 2 block headquarters and 49 percent in one block headquarters. At the same time, PWD has sent a proposal of Rs 174 crore to the government for a 48 kilometer road to connect the remaining 1 tehsil and 10 block headquarters with two lanes. Similarly, 94 routes have been approved for the development of international/interstate border routes passing through 25 cities. Here, an amount of Rs 2,171 crore was given for 1,126 kilometer road. Of these, work on 81 routes has been completed, while work is going on on 13 routes, where 99 percent work of 6 routes has been completed and 24 percent work of 7 routes has been completed.
1,679 crores were spent to connect villages with main roads
At the same time, 1,928 works were approved to connect villages with a population of more than 250 to the main road (distance less than .5 kilometres). In such a situation, an amount of Rs 1,679 crore was allocated for 2,107 kilometer road. Of these, 563 works have been completed. A proposal has been made to connect 1,087 unconnected villages to the main road. Similarly, 1,074 works have been identified for reconstruction and strengthening of roads in the sugar mill areas of the state. In such a situation, a proposal of Rs 384 crore has been sent for 1,127 kilometer road. The work will be started as soon as the green signal for these works is received from the government. In the second phase, Rs 200 crore will be spent on 626 routes. Two works were approved for widening, strengthening and construction of road for Industrial/Logistic Park. In such a situation, work worth Rs 139 crore and 9.6 km road is going on. Whereas PWD has received a proposal of Rs 1,922 crore from the Industrial Development Department to carry out 21 works. Similarly, under charitable work, 36 works were approved for widening, strengthening and construction of roads, where work of 174 kilometers of roads worth Rs 2,316 crore is going on.
