A Congress delegation on Saturday met Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat at the Raj Bhavan and demanded action against elements who are trying to create “communal polarization” and “suppress the voice of dissent” in the government machinery. are misusing. The Congress also accused the BJP government of the state of doing “bulldozer politics” like its counterpart in Uttar Pradesh.
The delegation, which included Leader of Opposition Sukhram Rathwa, AICC Gujarat in-charge Raghu Sharma and several MLAs and senior leaders. He submitted a memorandum to the state government and accused the ruling BJP of doing politics of hate and misusing the government machinery to suppress the voice of dissent.
“Attempts are being made to create a situation of communal polarization in the state. Those who are responsible for maintaining law and order in the government are behaving unconstitutionally,” the Congress memorandum said. Congress demanded action against those who are trying to create fear in the minds of citizens. The Congress also alleged that the BJP was trying to create and incite communal tension to hide its inability to bring the state back on track amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Congress also said that the Gujarat government is doing ‘bulldozer politics’ inspired by the Uttar Pradesh government.
He said, “Actually they are crushing the soul of Mahatma Gandhi and the Constitution. Such attempts to create hatred among the people are affecting the state financially. The party (BJP) is using the government machinery for its unconstitutional Targeting those opposing the activities.”
The Congress requested the Governor to direct the state government to take immediate action against those spreading hatred and disturbing law and order, as well as registering an FIR against those using social media and making provocative speeches.
The memorandum further read, “The bulldozer has become a modus operandi of the BJP to suppress the voice of dissent there. It must understand that it cannot suppress the voice of the public through its bulldozer politics.”
