CBI alert against scam.
In the age of internet, online scams have become a common thing. In India too, news of people falling prey to online scams in different ways keeps coming every day. The situation has become such that now scammers have started using the name of CBI to cheat people. In view of such cases, now CBI itself has taken the initiative and advised people to avoid such scams. Let’s know the whole matter.
CBI issued alert
CBI has issued an alert and said that people should be cautious about scams that are done by misusing the name and designation of senior CBI officers. Especially in such scams, fake documents signed by CBI officers including Director CBI, fake warrants/summons are circulated on internet/email/WhatsApp etc. for committing fraud. CBI has said that emails come on fake letter heads. Regarding which CBI has issued an advisory.
How to be careful?
The CBI has reported that the publicly available CBI logo is being misused by some criminals as their display picture (DP) to extort money by making calls mainly through WhatsApp. The public is advised to be cautious and not fall prey to such scams. Any such attempt should be reported to the local police immediately.
