New Delhi. A police case has been registered against Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar for violating the model code of conduct during the Lok Sabha election campaign. This matter is related to a video of a Congress leader. In which he had allegedly told the voters of Bengaluru that if they voted for his brother DK Suresh, he would supply them water from the Kaveri river. DK Suresh is contesting from Bengaluru Rural. The state election commissioner said his speech violates the model code and a police case has been registered for ‘bribery and undue influence in elections’.
In a video clip that surfaced on social media, DK Shivakumar was allegedly heard telling residents of a housing society in his brother’s constituency that he had come for a “business deal”. If they vote for his brother, he will ensure the supply of Kaveri river water to them. Shivkumar says in a rally that ‘I have come here for a business meeting. You want Cauvery water and CA site. All other issues are minor. If I complete these, what will you do with me? I spoke to the commissioner on this issue. I asked what can and should be done. I believe in sharing and caring.
An FIR is lodged by the FST of Bengaluru against Dy. Chief Minister DK Shivakumar for violation of MCC while addressing apartment owners in RR Nagara. The FIR No.78/2024 at RMC Yard PS is lodged u/s 171(B)(C)(E)(F) of IPC for bribery and undue influence at elections.
