The “drug -free Bharat Pakhwada” celebrated from June 12 to 26, with the aim of curbing the drug addiction spread by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment across the country and making the society intoxicated, concluded with various awareness activities in Deeg. According to the instructions of District Collector Utsav Skills, the programs and activities of public awareness informing about the ill effects of drugs were conducted regularly during this fortnight. In the same series, a district level workshop was organized in the Panchayat Samiti on the occasion of “International Day against Drug abuse and illegal smuggling” on 26 June (Thursday). Subsequently, a street play was staged for public awareness at the Jal Mahal entrance at 5:00 pm, which attracted a large number of people’s attention.
After the Nukkad Natak, a grand bike rally was organized from Jal Mahal to Laxman Temple, New Road. The rally was flagged off by Assistant Chief Executive Officer Mohan Singh. District Social Welfare Officer Kuldeep Singh ensured all necessary arrangements for the successful operation of the rally.
In the bike rally, officers and employees of various departments, including Police Department, Education Department, Scout, Panchayati Raj Department, as well as a large number of ordinary citizens participated extensively and gave a strong message of drug addiction. The event was successful in uniting and making the society aware of drug addiction.
