Food delivery company Zomato has increased the platform fees for customers by 25 percent. This means that now customers will have to pay a platform fee of Rs 5 per order while ordering food. Before the increase, Zomato used to charge a platform fee of Rs 4 per order. In January 2024, the platform fee was increased by the company from Rs 3 to Rs 4 per order.

According to the information, the cities for which the platform has been increased by the company. It includes the names of cities like Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Lucknow. According to the report, the company serves orders ranging from 20 lakh to 22 lakh in a day. In such a situation, the direct effect of increasing the fee by one rupee can be seen in the increased level of profit of the company.
Zomato started charging platform fees in August 2023. At that time the company used to charge Rs 2 per order. In October last year, it was increased to Rs 3 and in January 2024 it was increased to Rs 4. Let us tell you, if you take Zomato’s Gold Loyalty Program then you do not need to pay delivery charges. Zomato’s main competitor Swiggy also charges platform fees on orders and currently it is Rs 5 per order. At present, these two companies have more than 95 percent market share in the food delivery market.
