Although the official announcement has not been made by the central government yet, but according to reports, the Finance Ministry has started work on it. The Finance Minister recently indicated that the report could be submitted before January 2026, so that it could be possible to implement it from the same time.
All the necessary administrative formalities are being completed before the announcement of the 8th Pay Commission. The formation of the Commission usually involves retired Supreme Court Judge, Senior IAS officers, economists and pension-policy experts.
How much will the salary increase?
The 8th Pay Commission is expected to increase the basic salary from 40% to 50%. This growth will be based on the new fitment factor, which can be fixed between 2.28 and 2.86. If the government applies the maximum factor i.e. 2.86, then the current basic salary is ₹ 20,000, its new salary can range between ₹ 46,600 to ₹ 57,200.
Impact of DA and Fitment Factor
In every pay commission, fitment factor and dearness allowance (DA) are the two most important points. The old salary is converted into a new salary through the fitment factor. At the same time, DA is revised every six months in view of the increasing cost of living.
