An AI-operated chatbot made by the Chinese company Dipcik has become the most downloaded free app on Apple’s store after its release in the US in January. The sudden popularity of the app, as well as DeepCek’s alleged lower cost compared to American AI companies has shaken financial markets. Silicon Valley Venture Capitalist Mark Andriesen described Dipcic as one of the most amazing and impressive successes in AI. The company says its latest AI models are equivalent to the industry -agar model – such as Chatgpt in the US. Researchers behind the app have said that it is only $ 6 million (£ 4.8m) to make it, which is much lower than the billions of dollars spent by AI companies in the US. AI Assistant of DipC has become the most rated free application available on Apple’s app store in the US, leaving behind rival Chatgpt, which has raised doubts over some US technology companies to invest billions of dollars in AI. Shares of several major technology companies including NVIDIA have suffered a setback.
