Ranakpur Jain Temple was built by four devotees named Acharya Shyamsunder ji, Dharnashah, Rana Kumbha and Depa. It is said that Dharnashah saw the Nalinigulma aircraft in a dream one night and inspired by this dream, he decided to build this temple. When Dharnshah asked for land from Rana Kumbha for the construction of the temple, he was happy to give land. Many big and experienced architects were called for the construction of the temple, but no one liked the plan, and in the end he was satisfied with the plan of a simple object lamp from Mundara. After which architect Deepak prepared the architecture of Ranakpur Jain Temple. The construction of Ranakpur Jain temple took about 60 years. The construction of this amazing temple lasted till 1458 AD. At that time, about 99 lakh rupees were spent in the construction of this temple.

The Ranakpur temple is spread over a very large area which mainly includes Chaumukha Temple, Amba Mata Temple, Parshwanath Temple and Sun Temple etc. Chaumukha Temple dedicated to Adinath Tirthankar is the largest and important temple here. The temple has 29 halls, 1444 pillars and 80 domes. Apart from this, there are 76 small domes in the temple, four large prayer rooms and four big worship places, which motivate humans to get salvation by attaining freedom from 84 vagaries of life-death. The carvings of nymphs dancing inside the temple are worth seeing. Apart from this, four different entrances will be seen in the striking temple, which give the facility to come from all four directions in the temple, where devotees can take advantage of the darshan of the four-faced marble statue of four faces of Lord Adinath in the sanctum sanctorum. Looking at the structure of the temple carefully, it shows that its architecture and stone carvings correspond to another ancient Mirpur Jain temple in Rajasthan.

The 48,000 square -foot Vishal Ranakpur temple complex includes a total of four attracted temples and basements with pillars and domes. The carvings of the columns in the temple are the same accessories, in addition to the kalakarayan in fine scrollwork and geometric patterns on the roof. Apart from this, the structure of Ranakpur temple includes several pavilions, beautiful turrets, prayer halls built in the temple, two huge bells and attracted windows etc. The most unique feature of this temple is its color -changing pillars, which after every hour of the day turn color from golden to light blue.
