The festival of Ahoi Ashtami is celebrated every year on the Ashtami date of Krishna Paksha of Kartik month. This year this festival will be celebrated on 24th October. Just as fortunate women keep a waterless fast during Karva Chauth and pray for the long life and good health of their husbands, in the same way, on the day of Ahoi Ashtami, every mother observes a waterless fast, praying for the happiness, prosperity and health of her child. This fast is concluded with the worship of Ahoi Mata as per rituals after the stars come out in the evening. The worship of Ahoi Mata on this day has a very special significance, in which it is very important to include some things. Let us know which things must be included in the puja thali of Ahoi Ashtami.

Include necessary puja items in the puja thali.

First of all, all the necessary puja items should be included in the Ahoi Ashtami puja thali. There are some things without which this puja is considered incomplete. This includes – Ahoi Mata’s picture, Ahoi Vrat Katha book, water urn, Ganga water, different types of flowers, incense sticks, cow ghee lamp, Roli, Kalava, Akshat (raw rice), dry flour (chowk For), cow’s milk and curry.

Apart from the items used in puja, makeup items should also be included in the puja thali on Ahoi Ashtami. The main ones in this are red clothes (chunri), bindi, vermilion, kajal, lipstick, bangles, roli, alta etc. All these things should be offered to Ahoi Mata during the puja. After this you can give it to your mother-in-law or any Pandit. If both are not available then this adornment can also be offered to Goddess Parvati in the temple.

keep food items in the plate

In the worship of Ahoi Ashtami, along with fruits and sweets, some home-made dishes are also offered. Five different types of fruits and any home-made sweet can be offered in the puja plate. Women observing fast on this day should not even touch milk and curd, hence do not prepare anything like that as offering. Making flour dumplings and semolina malpuas is considered auspicious on this day. Apart from this, vegetables and puri are also prepared in a sattvik manner.
