You must have eaten gulab jamuns and rasgulla a lot, but have you ever tasted the taste of moong dal ras vada? These vadas soaked in sugar are so soft that they dissolve in the mouth as soon as they are eaten. You will love this unique sweet of moong dal. To make this dessert, all you need are few ingredients like moong dal, sugar, paneer, saffron, green cardamom and oil. You can make it on special occasions or if you feel like eating it after dinner.
Ingredients for making Moong Dal Ras Vada-
1/2 cup yellow moong dal
4 saffron strands
1 cup sugar
100 grams paneer
2 green cardamoms
1 cup vegetable oil
Method to make Moong Dal Ras Vada-
First soak the moong dal. Wash the lentils 3-4 times and soak them in hot water for 45 minutes. Now drain all the water and put the soaked dal in the blender. Blend well to make a thick and smooth paste. Add paneer pieces, 2-3 tbsp of water to the blender and blend well once again.
Put 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water in a pan and keep it on medium heat. Let the sugar dissolve completely. Add ground cardamom and saffron strands. Let the syrup cook until it becomes slightly thick. Use a spoon or whisk and whisk the batter for at least 2-3 minutes. This will make it bloated. Now heat oil in a pan. Use a spoon to drop small pieces/tablets of the batter into the hot oil and keep frying it till it turns golden. Put the vadas in the syrup and let them soak for at least 30 minutes. Your soft and delicious Moong Dal Ras Vadas are now ready to be served.
