Because of this the smell comes: Researchers from Ohio University say that the reason for the smell of garlic breath is due to the volatile elements present in it. It contains ingredients such as allyl disulfide, allyl mercaptan, allyl methyl disulfide and allyl methyl sulfide. All these are present in garlic.
Apples and Mint Mint leaves were estimated to have higher evaporation capacity for all volatile foods than raw apples and raw lettuce. Research found that apple juice and mint juice reduced the levels of odor-causing agents.
But the contrast was less effective than those who chewed apple or mint leaves whole. The researchers found no vaporizing effect against the garlic compounds in green tea.
This study is published in the journal ‘Journal of Food Science’. Rita Mirondo of Ohio University, who was involved in the study, says that raw whole foods are more effective in eliminating the pungent smell of garlic because they contain enzymes as well as phenolic compounds.
According to research, the compounds present in milk onion or garlic, which can reduce the smell very fast. However, while drinking milk, keep in mind that there must be a gap of at least 15-20 minutes.
Drinking lukewarm water after meals moisturises the mouth, flushes out toxins and also removes odour. Therefore, the easiest and most effective way to remove the smell is to drink lukewarm water.
Fennel and cardamom have proved to be very effective in reducing the bad smell coming from the mouth after eating onion and garlic. If both of these are chewed with lukewarm water, then more effective results can be seen.
