Bank Holiday 2025: Banks will be holiday this week, know when and where the banks will remain?

by Kavita Nagar
June 11, 2025
;;;;;;

The second week of June has started and banks are going to be holidays in many parts of the country this week. If you have to do any necessary work related to the bank, then settle it in advance because banking services in some cities are going to come to a standstill this week. According to the Holiday list of the Reserve Bank of India, there are a total of 3 days this week when banks in some states will be completely closed.

These holidays may affect customers’ everyday banking works. Especially the customers who have to go to the branch to complete cash deposits, withdrawal, check clearance, or any documentary process may have to face problems. In such a situation, it is important that you plan the information of these holidays in advance.

On June 11, banks will be closed in some cities on Sant Kabir Jayanti

Banks will remain closed in Shimla and Gangtok on the occasion of Sant Kabir Jayanti on Wednesday, June 11, 2025. Saint Kabirdas was born in the 15th century and he is considered as a saint who spreads equality and spiritual consciousness in society. His birth anniversary is considered to be religious and culturally important in many states, so banks and other government offices are discharged on this day in those areas.

Although this holiday does not apply in all states, banking services will not be available on this day in cities like Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) and Gangtok (Sikkim). If any of your banking works are pending in these areas, then it would be better to complete them before this date.

Banking services will be stalled for two days across the country on weekends

Apart from festivals, banking services are closed on Sunday with the second and fourth Saturdays of every month. The second Saturday is falling on 14 June this week and there will be a holiday in all banks across the country on this day. Soon after this is Sunday on 15 June, which is a weekly holiday across the country. Thus, banking services will be closed in the whole of India on two consecutive days i.e. Saturday and Sunday.

On the other hand, if we talk about Shimla and Gangtok, then there is already a holiday for Sant Kabir Jayanti on 11 June. In such a situation, there will be no three days of banking work on 11, 14 and 15 June. This can affect the functioning of bank branches. Therefore, customers are advised to deal with their tasks before these dates.

Digital banking can provide relief, online services will continue

Although bank branches will be closed on these dates, but digital banking services will remain as before. That is, customers will not have to face any blockage for online transactions, balance checks, sending money, bill payment, or other facilities. Transactions like NEFT, RTGS, IMPS can be done through net banking and mobile banking apps.

Apart from this, facilities like purchase and payment will also be available from ATM machines, debit and credit cards and points of sale (POS) machines. Many banks also provide lockers, checkbooks, debit cards or other services through online requests, so that customers can fulfill their needs during the holidays.

Be sure to check the holiday list before going to the bank

The holidays of different states of the country are based on cultural and religious beliefs there. In such a situation, it is not necessary that the impact of the bank closure in a state should be across the country. But the second and fourth Saturdays and Sunday holidays are the same all over India.

Often people go to the branch for necessary work in the bank and by reaching there they know that the bank is closed that day. This causes time wastage and the work also remains incomplete. Especially if there is any important work related to deed registration, loan processing, KYC or payment, then before the journey, see the RBI Holiday List of the concerned bank. With this you can avoid unnecessary problems.
