Disadvantages of children sitting in W position
hip dislocation
Hip dislocation occurs when the head of the thigh bone (femur) slips out of the socket of the hip bone (pelvis). A child sitting in the W position may develop hip problems. Children sitting in this position do not use their core or trunk muscles as much as other children do. This can lead to weak trunk muscles.
Reduced cross-body movement
Sitting in the W position can restrict the child’s cross body movement. Due to which the child starts using both his hands. This is because in the W position the child is able to use both his hands comfortably.
