Indian Railways has implemented a new rule by making major changes in the Tatkal ticket booking system which can affect millions of passengers. According to the new Railway rule, if your IRCTC account is not linked to the Aadhaar card, then in the coming time you may have to face difficulties in booking Tatkal tickets.
From now on, users with only Aadhaar Linked Account will get access 10 minutes before opening the Tatkal ticket window, which increases the chances of getting confirmed tickets. This facility will be very beneficial for those passengers who book train tickets every day through mobile or laptop.
What is the new rule?
The Railways has made it clear that as soon as Tatkal ticket booking starts, the right to booking for the first 10 minutes will only be the passengers whose IRCTC account is linked to Aadhaar. During this time no agent will be able to book tickets. From this it is being ensured that common passengers get priority and do not take advantage of agents system.
How to link IRCTC account to Aadhaar?
If you have not yet linked your IRCTC account to Aadhaar, then you can follow these easy steps:
First of all www.irctc.co.in Go to the website.
Login with your username and password.
Go to the ‘My Account’ tab on the homepage.
Click on ‘Link Your Aadhaar’ option.
Fill your 12 -digit Aadhaar number and name information.
Enter OTP on registered mobile and click on ‘Update’.
Your profile will be successfully linked to Aadhaar.
Complete process of booking Tatkal tickets
If your IRCTC account is link to Aadhaar, you can take advantage of the first 10 minute booking window under this rule. By following the process given below, you can easily book Tatkal tickets:
IRCTC website Go to and login.
Fill your journey information – select the TATKAL option in the “From” and “to” stations, travel date and quota.
Click on the “Search” button, the list of trains will be revealed.
After seeing the seat availability, select the appropriate train.
Fill passenger details such as names, age, gender. If the account is link to Aadhaar, it will get priority.
Select the available seat and coach, enter the correct captcha code and mobile number.
Select any mode like debit/credit card, net banking, UPI for payment.
As soon as the payment is made, your ticket will be booked, whose information will be found through SMS and email.
