Haldwani: Amidst the increasing cases of dengue, the demand for goat milk is increasing rapidly. Along with the treatment of dengue, people are also relying on home remedies, in which goat milk is considered to be the main one. But it is important to know whether goat milk is really helpful in the treatment of dengue or is it just a myth. To know the answer to this question, Local 18 spoke to senior Ayurveda doctor Dr. Vinay Khullar.
Does goat milk cure dengue?
Dr. Vinay Khullar said that goat milk is very beneficial for any person. Because it contains more than a dozen nutrients. It contains vitamins B6, B12, C and D as well as folate binding components, which help in increasing the amount of folic acid in the body. However, it has no scientific basis in the treatment of dengue.
Dr. Khullar said that dengue is a disease that is controlled on its own. In this, the immune response of the body itself first decreases the number of platelets and then increases it. Therefore, it is not right to give credit to goat’s milk or papaya leaves. The platelets of the body increase naturally and goat’s milk has no contribution in this.

How is goat milk different from buffalo and cow milk?
Dietitian Dr. Abha Singh says that goat’s milk is slightly different from cow and buffalo milk. Goat’s milk contains high amounts of selenium, but selenium has no special contribution in increasing the number of platelets. Therefore, it is a myth to see goat’s milk as a remedy to increase platelets for dengue patients.
