Gram vegetable is a delicious and nutritious North Indian cuisine, which is made from gram (Kabuli gram). It is spicy, delicious and very wonderful in food. Gram vegetables can be served with roti, paratha or rice. Let’s learn how to make it:
Material:
1 cup gram (kabuli gram) 2 table spoon oil 1 tsp cumin 1 onion (finely chopped) 1 tomato (finely chopped) 1-2 green chillies (chopped) 1 inch ginger (grated) 1 tsp coriander powder 1 /2 tsp turmeric powder 1/2 tsp red chili powder 1 tsp garam masala 1/2 tsp mango powder (according to taste) salt (according to taste) 1/2 cup green coriander (to decorate) water (for mother -in -law’s stability)
Method of preparation:
Boil gram:
First wash the gram thoroughly and soak it in water for 6-8 hours or overnight. Then, to boil, add gram to a pressure cooker and add water and boil till 3-4 whistles. The gram should be fully cooked, not too raw nor too soft. After boiling, filter water (you can use it to make sauce) and keep the gram separate.
Preparation of temper:
Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds and when it starts to crack, add finely chopped onion to it. Fry the onion until they turn golden brown. Then add ginger and green chillies and fry for 1-2 minutes.
Pour spices:
Now add finely chopped tomatoes and let the tomatoes cook until it becomes soft. Then add turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt and mix well. Allow the spices to fry for 3-4 minutes.
Pour gram:
Now add boiled gram and mix well, so that the spices get absorbed well in the gram. Add water as required (thick or thin as per your choice) and cover the pan and cook for 10-15 minutes, so that the spices and gram are mixed together.
Finishing:
Now add garam masala and mango powder to it and mix well. Put green coriander in Kadhi and decorate it.
Serving:
Serve with hot gram vegetable bread, paratha, or rice.
