Goswami Tulsidas, the author of Ramcharitmanas, was Ayodhya, Kashi and Chitrakoot. Tulsidas used to praise Ram Katha at that time. Devotees used to come there to listen to him. It is said that one of the people who listened to Ram Katha used to come there to hear the story every day. After the story was completed, he used to leave quietly. One day after praising Lord Rama in the forest of Kashi, Tulsidas decided to follow that Kodhi Ram Katha devotee. After listening to the story, when all the people left from there, Tulsibaba grabbed the feet of the person and requested him to appear in his real form. Overwhelmed by devotion, Anjanisut Hanuman, the incarnation of Lord Shiva, appeared there.
Tulsidas was blessed to see his presiding deity in front of him. After which, with the inspiration of Hanumanji, he composed many immortal compositions as well as Hanumanashtak. It is said that the place where Tulsidas ji visited Bajrangbali, there is a Sankatmochan Hanuman temple today. Not only in Kali Yuga, but in every era, Hanuman is considered to be the deity who removes all the troubles of his devotees. This is the reason why he is also called as Sankatmochan.
Jyotishacharya Pandit Arunesh Kumar Sharma said that where Hanumanji appeared to Tulsidasji, he was installed in idols on the insistence of Tulsibaba. Tulsi Baba composed Hanuman Ashtak to overcome all the troubles of his devotees. This prayer of 8 lines makes Hanuman aware of his powers. Pleased with this, they overcome all the crises of their devotees. In childhood, Naughty Hanuman used to use all his powers in hair. On this, the sage cursed him that till he was not remembered by his powers, they would remain forgotten. Even in Ramcharitmanas, Jamwant remembered Mahabali Hanuman to his powers.
