Today, on 6th September, married women across the country are going to observe Hartalika Teej fast for their husbands’ long life and happy life. This day is very special for every married woman. They start preparing for it many days in advance. On this day, married women do their full makeup and offer many types of things to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati as bhog. One such traditional dish offered as bhog is called Pidukia. Pidukia Prasad is made from refined flour. It is filled with khoya, semolina, coconut and gram flour. Ingredients for making Pedukia-
-2 cups all-purpose flour
-3/4 cup powdered sugar
-1 cup dry fruits
-Half a teaspoon small cardamom
Method of making Pedukiya Prasad-
To make Pedukiya Prasad, first sift and clean the flour. After this, add ghee to the flour and rub it well with dry hands. After this, add water to the flour slowly and knead a hard dough and cover it with a wet cloth and keep it aside. After this, to prepare the stuffing of Pedukiya, heat some ghee in a pan, add semolina to it and fry it on low flame till it becomes golden in color. After this, add chopped dry fruits to the semolina and fry it, then add powdered sugar and cardamom powder to it. If you want, you can also add mawa to this stuffing. Now mix everything well and keep it aside to cool.
To prepare Pedukia Prasad, make small balls of refined flour and roll them. After this, fill it with semolina-mawa stuffing and close it by giving it the desired shape. Now heat ghee in a pan, put Pedukia in it and fry it on low flame. Take special care that if you fry Pedukia on high flame, it remains raw from inside. Your Pedukia Prasad is ready to offer to Maa Parvati and Lord Shiva on Hartalika Teej.
