Whenever the name of Srimad Bhagavad Gita comes, the image of the preaching given by Lord Krishna to Arjuna by Lord Krishna in Kurukshetra first first emerges in our mind. This Gita is still considered to be the most esoteric book of spiritual and philosophy of life.
But do you know that even before Arjuna, Lord Krishna gave knowledge of Gita to someone else? This is a question that 9 out of 10 people answer wrong.
In fact, before Arjuna, this divine knowledge was given by God himself to “Surya Dev”.
Revealed in the fourth chapter of Geeta
Sri Krishna himself says to Arjuna in verses 1 and 2 of chapter 4 (Jnana Yoga) of Srimad Bhagavad Gita:
I am Vivaswate Yogam Proktwanhamavayam.
Vivaswanmanve Prah Manurikavakavabevit॥
This means – I told this imperishable yoga (knowledge) first to the Sun (Vivaswan), then the Sun told Manu, and Manu told Ikshvaku.
It is clear from this verse that the knowledge of the Gita was not new. Lord Krishna provided it from time to time to various great men and gods. Arjuna was once again reminded of this knowledge during the war, not for the first time.
How to become Sun God first listener?
Vivaswan means that Lord Krishna gave this knowledge to the Sun God at the beginning of the creation, when the world was being built and the foundation of religion was being laid. This knowledge was given to the Sun God because he is going to light up the entire universe and he is related to life -giving energy.
After this, Surya gave it to Manu, who is considered to be ancestor of mankind. Then Manu gave it to Ikshvaku, which led to the beginning of Suryavansh – that is, the lineage of Lord Shri Ram.
Why do people do wrong answers?
Many people believe that the knowledge of Gita was given only to Arjuna, because this episode is the most famous and the entire book of Gita is based on this dialogue. But they do not study the verses of the Gita intense, so that they do not know this esoteric fact.
Gita: Not only war, message of life
The Gita is not only a teaching of war land, but it is a medium for balance, duty and the identity of the true nature of the soul in every sphere of life. Shri Krishna did not give knowledge to Arjuna only because he would fight, but because he could recognize his religion. The same knowledge was given in different forms in other ages earlier too.
conclusion
So the next time someone asks that who first got the knowledge of Shrimad Bhagavad Gita, remember – Answer is “Sun God”. Arjuna was only the sequel to that knowledge, which from time to time God reveals to protect religion himself.
This is the eternal truth.
