There are some incidents in our lives that leave a deep impression on our mind and brain. The death of a loved one, breakdown in relationships, deception, or any terrible accident – all these experiences can break us from inside. But can we live with these sorrows throughout our life? If not, then it is necessary that we adopt measures to get rid of them in time.
1. Accept that the past cannot be changed
The biggest truth of the past is that it cannot be changed. As long as we continue to struggle with it, sorrow and guilt will not give up. The first mental strength is that we accept our mistake or suffering and wish to move forward.
2. Talk, lighten your mind
Many times people keep their pain inside. But this method is harmful. It is very important to talk to any of your trusted friends, family or therapist openly. It lightens the burden on the soul.
3. Identify and change negative thoughts
Our mind constantly repeats the same pain that happened in the past. Every time that scene comes in front of the eyes, the mind starts to break. In such a situation, whenever negative thoughts come, stop them and tell yourself – “Now I want to get out of it.”
4. Start writing – Create a diary of emotions
Writing the experiences of the past in a diary is a type of suicide. With this, the thoughts that keep moving inside, come down on paper and lighten the mind. Over time, this habit gives mental peace.
5. Set goals for yourself
Another effective way to get out of the past is to keep yourself busy in the present. Learning a new skill, improving career, focusing on fitness – all these things give a new direction to the brain.
6. Take the support of meditation and pranayama
Meditation and the practice of deep breaths (Pranayama) can gradually pacify the chronic pain in the brain. This practice works as an emotional cleaning of the brain.
7. Learn to forgive – yourself and others too
Many times we hold the mistake of others in the mind or blame ourselves. But we cannot find peace until we forgive. Forgiveness is not a weakness, but purification of your mind.
8. Do not hesitate to seek professional help
If you feel that you are not able to get out of these emotions alone, then it is prudent to take counseling or therapy. Nowadays mental health services are easily available and they are completely confidential.
9. Give time for time
No pain goes overnight. Be patient, give yourself time. Every day a little progress will slowly lead you to a new life.
10. Consider a new beginning every morning
Every day the sun rises new, similarly take every morning as a new beginning. Tell yourself, “I am not a prisoner of my past, I am the creator of my future.”
