Walking is very beneficial for health. For weight loss, walking is one of the easiest and most effective exercises for a healthy body. Walking controls bad cholesterol and also improves heart health. But many people do not know how much they should walk in a day, so let us tell you how much to walk in a day, how many hours to walk according to age and what are the best benefits of walking?

How much should you walk in a day?

According to experts, one should walk about 8 to 10 kilometers every day. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), people should exercise for at least 150 minutes every week. This means about 30 minutes of brisk walking a day, which is equivalent to about 4 to 5 kilometers per day. If you want to take it up a notch, aiming to walk 8 to 10 kilometers can help with weight loss.

How much should one walk according to age?

For children aged 6 to 17 years, it is recommended to play active games for at least 60 minutes every day. That means one should walk at least 15000 steps in a day. People between 18 to 40 years should take 12000 steps. People above 40 must walk 8000-10000 steps. People of 60 years should definitely walk 4000-500 steps. Aiming for 20 to 30 minutes a day, around 2 to 4 kilometers would be an ideal start.
