Diarrhea is the most common health problem in children, which can be dangerous. A newborn may have loose stools. Baby poop can vary in color and consistency. Baby poop is usually softer and waterier than adults and will not always be diarrhea. Newborn babies can have multiple bowel movements in a single day. If your baby is showing signs of dehydration, you may need to go to the hospital, where the baby will be given liquids through an IV. If you feed your baby some solid food, give him food that can stop diarrhea like banana, bread, khichdi. If your baby has a fever, weight loss, frequent vomiting, abdominal pain, watery or bowel movements more than 6 to 10 times a day, or blood or mucus in the stool, you should seek medical attention for your child right away.
