Health News Desk – According to a study, sitting for more than 10 hours increases the risk of dementia. The study included people age 60 and older and found that those who sat for less than 10 hours a day had a lower risk of dementia than those who sat for longer periods of time. This study also found that people who remain sitting for a long time even after exercising do not get much benefit from it. Let us know what other harms sitting for too long can cause besides the risk of dementia.

body pain
Sitting for long periods of time can cause pain in your neck, back, shoulders and waist. If it is not taken care of in time, this pain can persist for a long time. If you work on a computer while sitting, there is a possibility of your posture getting spoiled due to bending of the waist.

gaining weight
Sitting for a long time increases your weight. You may become obese due to your lack of physical activity. Sitting for long periods of time makes you more likely to accumulate fat in your stomach and hips.

heart disease
Sitting for a long time reduces fat burning in your body, which causes fat to accumulate in your arteries. This increases the possibility of cardiovascular disease.

diabetes
People who do not have an active lifestyle have more insulin resistance in their bodies. This is a major cause of diabetes. Therefore, sitting for a long time increases the risk of diabetes.

mental health
Exercise is not only beneficial for our physical health but also for our mental health. Happy hormones are produced in our body when we are active, which are effective against stress and anxiety, but these hormones are not released when we are sedentary. This has an adverse effect on our mental health.

What is the solution to this problem?
If you have to sit for long periods of time due to your work, try to take a short break in between and walk or jog while talking on a phone call.
Exercise daily. This will reduce the risk of weight gain, heart disease and diabetes.
Instead of sitting in front of TV or computer for long periods of time on holidays, adopt some physical activity.
