Travel News Desk, Traveling in the mountains is as fun as it is risky, especially if you are planning a trip. When going to hill stations, you may face problems like bumpy roads, blind turns and landslides. Since the monsoon season has also started, the chances of accidents are high, but most of the people living in Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan and Chandigarh travel to Uttarakhand and Himachal on weekends because these other places are closer than those places and there are many options to visit here. If you are also planning a trip here, then it is very important to know some rules which will keep you safe.

don’t drive too fast
Never make the mistake of driving too fast to get there quickly, no matter how experienced you are in driving. The roads in hilly areas are not very wide, so if you lose balance while driving fast, you can be a victim of a major accident.

take care of gear
Always drive in second or third gear on hills. Of course, it will take you longer to reach your destination, but at least you will be safe.

drive in low beam
One should always try to drive in low beam in the mountains as it gives a clear indication of the vehicle coming from the front.

Horn’s Law
There are some rules for blowing the car horn in the mountains. Always blow your horn while cornering, otherwise even a small mistake can put you in danger.

When to brake
There are dangerous turns in the mountain so do not use brakes but keep your speed low. Always use brakes as little as possible while going up or down a hill. This will save you from accidents.

Be careful while overtaking
What will happen is, you will reach your destination late and have less time to enjoy, but at least you will be safe. Don’t attempt to overtake in the hills unless you have a clear view ahead. Drive only in your lane.
