The reason behind sounding sirens in ambulances is to let the vehicles ahead know that the ambulance is coming and give way to it. Most of the patients going to the hospital in an ambulance are in critical condition. Therefore, it is very important to take them to the hospital on time.

However, many times it happens that people do not give way to the ambulance in traffic, due to which the patient dies due to not getting timely treatment. If someone deliberately blocks the way of the ambulance, then it can create trouble for him. Due to this, not only can the person have to pay a heavy fine. But he can also go to jail.

According to Section 194E of the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act, 2019, obstructing the path of fire service, ambulance or emergency vehicles specified by the state government can result in imprisonment of up to six months or a fine of Rs 10,000 or both. So if you are on the road and you see an ambulance, do not try to block its path even by mistake. If you try to block the path of an ambulance, you can be jailed. A fine can also be imposed for this.
